Driving Instructions

From Indianapolis airport to the Indiana Memorial Union:

  • When existing the Indianapolis airport, take I465 South
  • Exit I465 to the RIGHT on to Hwy 37, South
  • Proceed on Hwy 37 through Martinsville
  • Exit RIGHT off of Hwy 37 at College Ave and Walnut
  • Continue on College Ave to 7th Street
  • Turn LEFT on 7th
  • Turn RIGHT into the circle drive of the Indiana Memorial Union

From Indianapolis airport to Willkie Residence Center:

  • When existing the Indianapolis airport, take I465 South
  • Exit I465 to the RIGHT on to Hwy 37, South
  • Proceed on Hwy 37 through Martinsville
  • Exit RIGHT off of Hwy 37 at College Ave and Walnut
  • Turn LEFT on to By Pass 46 (McDonald's & ACE Rent-A-Car is on the corner)
  • Turn RIGHT on to 10th Street
  • Turn LEFT on to Union Street
  • Turn RIGHT on to 7th Street
  • Turn LEFT on to Rose Ave.
  • Willkie buildings are on your LEFT. There are 3 buildings in the Willkie complex - 2 high rise buildings and one low rise building. Check-in is at the first high rise building that you come to on Rose Ave on your left.

International Travel

Letter of Invitation

Conference management will provide you with a personal letter of invitation should this be required in order to obtain funding or a VISA to enter the country. If you need a Letter of Invitation, email your request to coord@alifex.org.

Visa

All international visitors coming to the United States must either have a valid Visa or come from a Visa waiver country where business and tourist visas to visit the US are not required. To determine if you need a Visa, we suggest that you review the information provided by the US State Department at: http://travel.state.gov

Health & Accident Insurance

All non-immigrant Visa holders are advised to have health and accident insurance that covers your stay. J-1 and J-2 Visa holders are required by law to have this insurance, which must include a minimum of $50,000 per accident or illness and include medical evacuation and repatriation of remains. If your personal insurance meets certain minimum levels, it may be unnecessary for you to purchase additional coverage. Check with a reputable travel agent, with your insurance agent or the Consulate's office.

Foreign Currency Exchange

We recommend that you obtain sufficient US currency before your departure or from one of the currency exchange services located in major port-of-entry airports such as New York or Chicago. Practically all shops, hotels, restaurants in Bloomington accept major credit cards. ATMs machines are readily available at the IMU, throughout campus and in the community of Bloomington. Bloomington banks and shops do not provide currency exchange services.

Parking

Participants who are lodged at the Indiana Memorial Union will receive free parking in one of two lots adjacent to the building.

For those commuting or staying off campus, discounted parking coupons will be available at the registration check-in desk. These coupons are valid at either of the two parking lots adjacent to the IMU.

Participants who are lodged at the Willkie Residence Center must purchase a parking pass. You may do so when you check-in to the Center. Parking passes cost $5.00 per day.
